Halloween Demotion

A little Halloween treat from AndiJF. Based on a girl's magazine comic from the 1960s (that were quite heavy on "light downgrade" content, such as an old favourite The Imposter).

  2. Pretty funny. There's a shop near me that sells old Bunty comics. I'm going to go and find out if I can get the issues with The Imposter story.

    1. Excellent! I think there were others with similar the Prince and the Pauper overtones.

  3. The comic images I used actually came from "Lady Penelope", a girl's comic published in the late 1960s. Like "TV21", the comic was published by Gerry and Silvia Anderson, and span off from their well-known television science-fiction puppet shows like "Stingray", "Thunderbirds", "Captain Scarlet" etc. As such, the comic's stories were supposedly set in the 21st century, but the social roles and uniforms depicted in this nursing comic were stuck decisively in the 1950s, no matter how many fins they put on the cars. Now that we're living in the 21st century our cars have changed far less than the appearance and role of nurses in modern hospitals.

A very apt observation. As I keep saying, they stole our future the way it was seen 50 or 60 years ago. It's 2021 for god's sake. 20 years after the Space Odyssey!
